#GivingTuesday

This month we hosted an amazing 4-day residential training with Relational Uprising! OWA members enhanced skills and understanding of storytelling to build relationships, empathetic listening skills, somatics, and resonance practices. Members from Toledo, Dayton, Cleveland, and Columbus came together to share a transformative experience.

We laughed, cried, and grew in our relationships with one another within our movement. And we believe that for community leaders to push for radical social change, we need a space to uplift, support, and love each other. We are preventing barriers, burnout, lack of resources, and loss of great leaders to the movement, and increasing an abundance of resource wealth as well as the opportunity to build on our strengths and commonalities that
brought us to this work.

Building an inclusive movement requires dismantling barriers for folks to be included. We sponsored out of town travel, lodging, lost wages and provided food. This #GivingTuesday, we're launching a fundraiser that helps us continue to resource women and femme around the state, provide trainings, and maintain the work that will lead us towards a progressive future. The retreat was incredible, but don’t take our word for it—hear from one of our founding members, Prabh Virk, who shared her “embodying relational culture" experience:

"My name is Prabh Virk and I’m the #Fight4HER Ohio organizer. I joined the Ohio Women’s Alliance because I was looking for a community and for connection to other organizers/leaders in Ohio. I’ve gotten that and so much more. I had the amazing privilege of getting to attend the Relational Uprising training hosted by the Ohio Women’s Alliance. It’s hard to put into words what a transformational experience attending the training was. In my organizing, I haven’t had a chance to attend many trainings and so getting to attend was a huge privilege that I’m extremely grateful for. The training was challenging and required giving your whole self, being fully present and brave. I’ve shared my stories and my trauma in my organizing but the conversations we had in that training were healing and I built such deep relationships with the amazing women/femme leaders in that room. I’m excited to bring the tools we learned back to #fight4HER activists and volunteers, but more than that I’m excited to have such an amazing, supportive community
in the Ohio Women’s Alliance."

Investment in our members is possible with your support. Please consider covering some of the travel costs and lost wages for the OWA members who participated in the Relational Uprising training. Supporting leaders is how you grow a sustainable movement, and that is how the Ohio Women's Alliance is building collective power. Thank you for considering a #GivingTuesday contribution!
