What we won't do is quit
Yesterday, the President rescinded his illegal shutdown that stripped away the safety and security promised to millions of Americans. His low attempt to break the very same people he swore to protect and serve backfired. Let's be clear: His plan didn't work because he never had a plan to improve people's lives to begin with. His ill-equipped decision to overreach his power was blocked, and the American people held him accountable.
We have been here before; he failed his job the first time and continues to fail at his job the second time. However, no matter how many attacks come from this administration, we will continue to show them we won't accept anything less than the dignity and respect we deserve. Thousands of people, including those who voted for him, spoke out against his attempt to cut essential care. He may have won his seat, but what he won't win is support for an agenda to cause unnecessary pain and suffering.
Caring for our communities is not political. And that is precisely what the President learned yesterday. This is just the beginning. Push where you can, and rest when you are tired. We will support each other in picking up the baton when others need a break, but what we won't do is quit. Ohio Women's Alliance will remain a safe space for us to collectively fight against extremism and dictatorship while holding space for wellness and communal care.
Please consider donating today to support the women of color who are fighting on the front lines each day to protect our rights and care for our communities.
