Intern with us!
Ohio Women’s Alliance is thrilled to host fellows and interns for the summer of 2021! Ohio Women’s Alliance is a statewide membership of grassroots leaders, organizers, community builders, and activists creating a better Ohio for all through a reproductive justice lens. We prioritize building a supportive pipeline to leadership, especially for young, gender-oppressed, queer, Black, and brown youth.
The intern and fellow positions will work in tandem with differing levels of responsibility and management styles:
Fellows
Fellows will be required to take part in 8 weeks of fellowship working approximately 10 hours a week plus one week of training and will be provided a $1,200 stipend as a 1099 contractor. This role is intended for students with some experience in grassroots/nonprofit work and expected to work both independently and in collaboration with the rest of the OWA team.
Interns
Interns are expected to volunteer 8-10 hours per week for 8 weeks with one week of training. Ohio Women’s Alliance can sign off on volunteer hours or offer school credit for courses. This role is ideal for an introductory experience into the grassroots nonprofit sector and for those looking to “dip a toe” into the field for the first time.
Ohio Women’s Alliance centers Black and brown women and femmes first and foremost. We understand that previous experience and unpaid labor are not always accessible and can often bar BIPOC from applying to or receiving jobs.
Fellows and interns will be selected using a holistic, intersectional rubric that centers lived experience. Some events and campaigns may take place in the evenings or weekends, however, we strongly value self and community care and are flexible to center folks’ needs.
Please reach out to us if you have any questions or are facing barriers to applying for these positions.
Please see below for more detailed job descriptions. Fellows and interns will be placed into each of the below positions and given responsibility according to their fellow/intern status. Students will be asked to select their preferences during the application process. *Both positions are required to attend training from 10 am to noon on June 16th and 18th.*
