We need drivers, and we have new training opportunities this year!
As we begin 2024, our biggest need is volunteers who can drive clients to and from their clinic appointments for abortion care. Right now, we have plenty of volunteers answering the MAP Warmline, but you are welcome to become a Warmline volunteer as well. This year, we’re excited to offer two options for prospective volunteers to get involved! These are different routes to the same volunteer roles; neither track is better or more preferred than the other. All Practical Support Volunteers must be 21+ years of age. Volunteers do not need to live in Ohio; we welcome drivers from neighboring states! If you have any questions about MAP Practical Support Volunteer training, please email our MAP Team at map@ohiowomensalliance.org.
Training Track 1
Track 1 involves training with OWA from start to finish. You may prefer this track if you want to get all of your training from OWA, and you want to get to know MAP Staff better.

Step 2: Attend each of our four foundational trainings, one per week.

Training Track 2
Track 2 involves beginning your training with Apiary for Practical Support, an organization that provides assistance to abortion support organizations like ours. They offer a volunteer training called Pollination Station multiple times a year. You may prefer this track if you need more options than the training times OWA can offer.
Step 1: Sign up via Apiary’s volunteer training interest form.
Step 2: Attend each of the three required trainings included in the Pollination Station. These trainings provide a foundation for understanding abortion, reproductive justice, and practical support. Pollination Station trainings are offered multiple times a year and have both weekday and weekend options for sessions.
Upon completion of the Pollination Station trainings, you will be vetted by Apiary. Then, Apiary will share your information with OWA.
Step 3: Complete a final training session with OWA. This training will serve as an introduction to OWA and MAP; it will also outline the options for volunteer roles and go over the day-to-day operations of MAP.
